Fellowship Programme inn Haematology
The Department of Pathology, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) is pleased to invite applications for one year advanced fellowship position in haematology starting July, 2011 SKMCH & RC is a comprehensive and modern cancer care facility fully equipped and staffed to diagnose and manage all types of cancer.

The hospital has a team of UK-and US-trained pathologists who provide state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities to its cancer patients. The haematology section is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and staffed by quality conscious technologists American Pathology (CAP) proficiency testing.
A variety of malignant and non-malignant haematological cases are seen on a daily basis. An average of 2500 bone marrow trephine biopsies, 1200 flow cytometric analyses, 180,000 CBC’s, over 2000 apheresis procedures and about 5,000 coagulation profiles are evaluated annually.
The Haematology Fellow will be expected to participate in routine sign-outs, providing exposure to a wide variety of haematological disorders. Special emphasis will be laid on areas where formal training is sometimes lacking, such as flow cytometry, molecular haematology, immunohistochemistry and apheresis procedures. The Fellow will be given an active role in laboratory aspects of stem cell transplantation. The Department of Pathology of SKMCH&RC places special emphasis on developing intradepartmental and interdepartmental consultation skills. The Fellow will be required to conduct lymphoma and leukaemia conferences in multidisciplinary settings. Participation in research activities in mandatory.

Eligibility Criteria:
FCPS in Haematology.
Resident Doctor in Radiation Oncology (4-Year Training Program)

Eligibility Criteria:
· MBBS (should have passed all professional examinations at 1st attempt obtaining at least 59% marks in final Professional).
· One year House Job in Surgery and Medicine. FCPS part-l (in Radiology) cleared.

· For Registered Nurses starting salary will be Rs. 18,000/- and will be raised to 22,000/- after first year.
· For Registered Nurses (with B.ScN) Starting salary will be Rs. 22,000/-

Diploma in Respiratory Therapy
SKMCH & RC offers a twelve monthpost-graduate Diploma in Respiratory Therapy. This includes didactic teaching and practical on-the-job training.
A respiratory therapist is a trained professional who is an integral part of the Intensive Care Unit team and operates and maintains patients on mechanical ventilation. In addition he/she participates in advance airway management, in providing oxygen therapy, administering aerosolized medication, performing chest physical therapy and pulmonary function testing. Applicants must have at least Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Botany or Zoology) or equivalent A stipend will be paid to the selected candidates and they will be entitled to other facilities in accordance with hospital policies.
